Don’t Take The Credit If You Can’t Take The Blame
I love my patients, and love when they’re getting great results under chiropractic care. People quickly forget all the problems they mentioned during the consultation. Problems they’ve been dealing with for months or even years. Problems that are affecting their quality of life.
One of the more interesting aspects of treating a patient that has never been under chiropractic care before is how they respond to getting adjusted. Once the initial concern about hearing things “pop” is out of the way, they become increasingly aware of their bodies.
“I noticed that my pain is gone when I sleep now.”
“I can touch my toes without pain!”
“You know, I just realized I haven’t had a headache in 3 weeks!”
Now, it’s chiropractic that has created the results. I don’t take the credit, because if I start taking the credit, I’ll have to take the blame for just about anything that goes wrong with their health from this point forward.
“My elbow hurts when I sleep.” — Just took up tennis now that they feel better.
“My back started hurting again.” — Slid into home during company softball game.
“My foot hurts when I salsa dance.” — No idea what to say about that.
The point is, with nearly every case, we can pin point their new “condition” to a new activity they started doing. Most began new activities because they were feeling better and were finally able to do something else. It’s just that anything negative that happens to them following adjustment is usually the result of chiropractic… even low gas mileage and overdue library books.
