Ever wonder why we get sick during the holidays?
Is it the flu? Is it the change in weather? Ever wonder why we get sick during the holidays?
I heard this from listening to an Anthony Robbins CD. We start the holiday season gorging ourselves at Thanksgiving. Follow that up with more holiday stress, eating poorly, more parties, late nights, more alcohol, other people that are sick and bombarding us… is it any wonder we get sick this time of year?
The way I personally handle it is to make sure I don’t slack on the things that are going to help me be healthy. I get my spine adjusted regularly (maybe a little more during this time of year), make sure I’m consistent with my vitamins and water intake, and I keep exercising.
I know that my best hope for avoiding “expressing symptoms” is to give my body every chance I can to fight off the germs and illnesses that are floating around this time of year. I’m still going to be bombarded with opportunities to get sick, but I want my body to be as strong as I can help it be during this time of year.
I also don’t want to get so far down that I’m waiting around for the first of the year to make a New Year’s resolution about getting back on track. I’ll do what I can to make sure that I don’t dip down too far before making another surge for better health in January.
As long as we’re talking about January, what’s your health goal for 2010? What would you like to do differently? How would you like to look and feel when 2011 begins? You don’t have to wait for the first of the year to make a difference, but that may be more realistic for you this time of year.
Start thinking about what you want out of the coming year. Get those goals written down and make them something that you can achieve, but that will require you to stretch past your comfort zone a bit.
